Prepare the signal before the recording matters
A short preflight catches problems that are expensive after an interview, lecture, meeting, or voiceover has ended. The studio measures average input level, the strongest observed peak, and a low-percentile level used as a practical room-floor indicator.
A repeatable setup sequence
- Place the device exactly where it will be during the session.
- Pause fans, music, notification sounds, and avoid touching the device.
- Speak naturally at the intended distance for the full check.
- Make a short recording in the destination app and listen with headphones.
Why the final test recording still matters
Browsers and recording apps can select different microphones or apply different automatic processing. This tool gives you a fast environmental check, but the real app’s test recording remains the final confirmation.

Questions about this tool
Does the microphone checker record me?+
No. It reads live signal level with the Web Audio API and does not use MediaRecorder, create an audio file, or upload sound.
Why does it need microphone permission?+
The browser must receive the live input signal to estimate level, peak, and quiet-room floor. Tracks are stopped when the check ends or the page closes.
Is this a hearing test?+
No. It evaluates the selected microphone input and recording environment only. It is not a medical, hearing, or hardware certification tool.
What should I do after a healthy result?+
Make a short recording in the real app you plan to use, then listen with headphones. The live check cannot verify that another app uses identical processing or microphone selection.
